Welcome to Viviq

Viviq helps you make smarter food choices by combining data from our community, supermarkets and trusted sources like Open Food Facts, NEVO (RIVM) and BLS (Max Rubner-Institut) with your personal preferences. For the most complete picture, especially with allergies or dietary needs, we always recommend double-checking the product label.

Viviq is your smart companion at the shelf, not a replacement for the label or medical advice.

General

Viviq provides information about food products to help you make choices. This information is for guidance only.

Viviq is not a medical device. It does not give medical advice. It does not replace professional healthcare.

Allergen data

Allergen information in Viviq may not be complete or accurate. Product data comes from multiple sources, including community-maintained databases where anyone can contribute.

Ingredients and allergens can change between product batches without the barcode changing. A product that was safe before may contain new allergens now.

Always check the physical product label before eating. If you have a serious allergy, do not rely only on this app.

Diet matching

Diet match results (such as "safe", "watch out", or "not for you") are based on available data. They are not a guarantee.

If a product shows "safe", this means we did not find a problem in the available data. It does not mean the product is definitely safe for you.

For conditions that need strict dietary management (celiac disease, PKU, diabetes, kidney disease), consult your doctor or dietitian before making diet changes based on this app.

Ingredient scanning

When you scan an ingredients list with your camera, Viviq uses AI to read the text. The AI may make mistakes, especially with:

  • Low image quality or poor lighting
  • Unusual or decorative fonts
  • Languages we do not fully support yet
  • Damaged or partially hidden labels

Always check the result against the physical label.

Data sources

Viviq uses data from the following sources:

  • Open Food Facts (community data, licensed under ODbL)
  • Albert Heijn, Jumbo, Plus (European supermarkets)
  • CIQUAL (French food safety agency ANSES)
  • NEVO (Dutch National Institute for Public Health, RIVM)

Each source has its own level of accuracy and coverage. When sources disagree on a value, Viviq shows both.

Limitation of liability

Viviq is not liable for any harm resulting from reliance on the information provided by the app.

This does not limit our liability in cases where Dutch law does not allow such a limitation.
